Zettabyte Expands with Liquid Cooling, Optimized AI Hardware in Taiwan

October 28, 2024

Zettabyte, a leader in AI data centers, has announced a significant expansion at Chief Telecom’s LY2 data center in Taiwan, focusing on enhancing AI computing efficiency and sustainability. This major initiative will see the implementation of liquid cooling technology across the entire floor, marking a first for Taiwan’s data centers. Liquid cooling is known to significantly reduce the high energy consumption commonly associated with traditional air-cooled systems. This improvement not only boosts efficiency but also lowers the environmental impact, presenting a dual benefit for both operational performance and sustainability.

Chief Telecom President Johnny Liu highlighted liquid cooling as a game-changing technology for AI data centers. This technology shift is particularly crucial given the increasing computational demands of AI workloads. Coupled with the growing awareness of environmental concerns, liquid cooling provides a much-needed solution to mitigate the power usage effectiveness (PUE) in data centers. Zettabyte aims to set a new standard in the industry with this sustainable approach, reducing carbon footprints while maintaining top-notch performance levels.

In addition to adopting liquid cooling, Zettabyte leverages its proprietary Zware GPU software to optimize AI workloads across multiple GPUs, servers, and data centers. This software innovation effectively cuts operational costs and enhances performance, consolidating Zettabyte’s status as a market leader in sustainable AI data centers. Chairman Kenneth Chung-Hou Tai emphasized that Zware aligns computing performance with adherence to sustainability principles, representing a significant step forward in the evolution of AI infrastructure. This strategic focus on both high performance and environmental stewardship positions Zettabyte as a key player in the future of AI technology.

Moreover, Zettabyte has partnered with Wistron, a leading GPU server manufacturer, to develop custom AI-optimized hardware. Wistron’s energy-efficient configurations will be integrated with Zettabyte’s advanced cooling technology at LY2, ensuring superior performance and efficiency. This strategic collaboration addresses the growing demand for high-performance, sustainable AI solutions. Through this partnership, Zettabyte and Wistron aim to support diverse sectors, from semiconductors to smart cities, by providing robust AI infrastructure that meets stringent performance and sustainability requirements.

By expanding at LY2, Zettabyte not only fortifies Taiwan’s AI infrastructure but also contributes to the broader objective of fostering innovation in AI technologies. The initiative underscores common themes of technological innovation, sustainability, and enhanced efficiency in AI infrastructure. Overall, Zettabyte’s strategic initiatives represent a transformative step towards a sustainable, high-performance future in AI, setting new benchmarks for the industry. This move illustrates the company’s commitment to pioneering advancements that support a wide array of industries while maintaining focus on both performance and environmental impact.
