Synthesia Brings Video Workflows Into ChatGPT

On November 3, 2026, Synthesia announced availability of its ChatGPT plugin across all Synthesia plans. Within the conversation, users can generate videos, request changes or retrieve content from their existing library. The larger shift is operational: material already moving through connected tools can become a video automatically, rather than waiting for someone to start a separate production task.

From Working Documents to Video Production

Synthesia’s integration puts video creation alongside the work that supplies its content. A user can describe an intended result or submit a spreadsheet, presentation or document. For a launch asset, feature explanation or training piece, ChatGPT asks follow-up questions about requirements, including duration and visual treatment, before Synthesia produces the video.

Revisions stay conversational. Instead of moving a draft into another workflow just to request changes, users can continue giving instructions in the same chat. That approach could reduce the coordination involved in routine business videos, particularly when their underlying material is already being developed there.

Script preparation is part of the connection. Teams can refine launch briefs, product changes, notes from calls or instructional copy in ChatGPT before sending the content into video generation. This shortens the handoff from deciding what to say to producing something people can watch.

The broader workflow shift is that existing information processes can now produce video as another output. Teams already using ChatGPT and connected tools have less need to build a new production habit; the adoption question is which documents or updates warrant a visual format. Turning everything into a video would still require an editorial judgment the integration doesn’t resolve.

Syren and Studio Serve Different Production Needs

Synthesia uses Syren as the plugin’s default creation mode and describes it as the company’s quickest format. Its intended uses include marketing assets, launch content and instructional explanations. Generated results can incorporate avatars, motion graphics, narration, background music and b-roll, with further changes requested through chat.

Studio provides a different level of control. Users specify it in their prompt when a project calls for a template, brand kit or exact script. An avatar presents the supplied wording verbatim, and the result can move into Synthesia’s editor for adjustments to individual scenes.

Production choiceHow users control itIntended work
SyrenGenerate and revise through conversationExplainers, launch assets and marketing content
StudioSupply exact wording, then edit individual scenesDetailed training, onboarding and compliance messaging

The distinction is consequential for business users. Conversational generation offers flexibility; preserving approved wording serves a different requirement. A compliance team, for example, could favor Studio when changing the script would create a review problem. That’s an application of its stated controls, not evidence that the tool guarantees compliance.

Library access extends the plugin beyond creating new assets. Users can look up existing Synthesia videos and inspect their details inside ChatGPT. For teams considering a new request, that capability could help establish whether relevant content already exists before another version is produced.

Connected Tools Can Initiate Production

Automation moves the integration beyond a user asking for one video. Synthesia says its plugin can operate with other plugins connected to ChatGPT, allowing jobs to run once, recur on a schedule or begin when material arrives through Slack or an inbox.

The company’s examples show how this could fit into specific business functions:

  • Marketing: A fresh message in a product-release Slack channel becomes a launch video lasting 30 seconds.
  • IT: A tool announcement in an internal update channel generates a 60-second explanation covering its purpose and setup.
  • Sales: After finding a Zoom customer conversation, a workflow turns its transcript into a 60-second recap with next steps and returns a link.
  • HR: Each weekday at 8 a.m., a scheduled BambooHR check finds that day’s starters and creates a 60-second welcome for each person.

Other examples address publishing cadence. Support teams can convert newly released help articles into 60-second tutorials each morning. A weekly workflow can assemble messages from an announcements channel into a company update lasting two minutes.

These are proposed workflows, rather than reported deployment results. Their value would depend on the quality of incoming material and whether the connected services provide the information needed. A trigger can start production; it doesn’t establish that an announcement is complete, a transcript is accurate or the resulting video is ready for distribution.

Adoption Starts With Choosing the Right Inputs

Connection begins in ChatGPT’s Plugins menu: users find Synthesia and choose Connect. Those without an existing account can create a free one during that process. Availability across every plan broadens access to the integration, but the announcement doesn’t establish usage allowances or production costs.

For organizations, the immediate decision is which recurring communications deserve automation and which require tighter script control. Synthesia’s plugin makes that choice timely by connecting drafting, generation and scheduled production in one workflow. Teams can begin with material they already prepare, while retaining review steps wherever accuracy, branding or approved wording determines whether a video is usable.
